Our company was born out of a love of travel, discovering products from local artisans and bringing them to you at affordable prices. Enjoy our site, discover our unique products and learn about the fascinating people that create them.
We began our venture by featuring jewelry imported from the Island of Murano outside of Venice, Italy. These hand-crafted products are made by layering brightly colored glass with silver or gold foil which is then topped with a crystal clear layer and baked at high temperatures. The resulting pieces have exceptional depth and brilliance that results from techniques that have taken centuries to perfect. Murano glass is famous around the world and has been made on this small island outside of Venice, Italy since the 9th Century. See our Murano section for more details about the Island’s history, learn about how the products are made and to see a video demonstration.
A second product line was added following a trip to Thailand. We have selected products crafted by artists in the Hill Tribe Regions of Chiang Mai, in Northern Thailand. By carrying these products we proudly support the villagers of Chaing Mai in owning their own businesses, preserving their cultures and providing for their families. Zyger Imports adheres to fair trade practices, ensuring that products that we carry directly profit the artists and that no child labor is involved in the manufacturing process. Enjoy our vibrant selections of Thai Rope Dragons, Thai Scarves and Sling Style Handmade Handbags
We are proud to carry our most recent product made by a cooperative of men and women in Afghanistan. Arghand Pebble Soap is an organic sustainable product that provides a livelihood for the cooperative and gives Southern Afghan Farmers an alternative crop to opium products. We call it "Empowerment in a Pebble." You will love the soap and a measure of pride for supporting the success of this organization. You can learn more about them by visiting our blog.
When you buy with Zyger, your gift gives back. We donate a portion of all sales to CARE, USA.
